WordPress has in recent years developed much further than a simple blogging platform. It can be extended for most scenarios. There are sometimes occasions when other software, such as Magento, osCommerce, or CS Cart are better suited to the job in hand. I have experience of these too, and can offer you advice on what the best option is for you.
